Ophthalmic Care Research

Understanding care

The starting point is a precise analysis of the actual need for ophthalmic care. We gather the most important information about eye diseases and their prevalence in the population from epidemiological studies to determine the specific need for ophthalmic care. Care is meant to serve patients. It is therefore necessary to better understand the needs and preferences of patients and develop innovations in ophthalmic care based on their everyday lives.

Measuring care

The existing treatment options are diverse, and it is not always easy for both care providers and patients to keep track. Our aim is to obtain a realistic picture of the ophthalmic care provided in order to identify problems, deficiencies, and regional disparities, as well as opportunities for improvement.

Shaping care

Ophthalmic care is constantly changing. External factors, such as the health policy context and the institutional structures of ophthalmic care, as well as internal factors like technical and therapeutic innovations, lead to variations in care outcomes. Our goal is to actively accompany this process of change and to promote rational decisions based on empirical data.
